Local SEO for a Connecticut paddlesports retailer.
- Client
- Collinsville Canoe & Kayak
- Role
- Consulting — SEO and local search
The brief
Collinsville Canoe & Kayak is a long-running independent paddlesports retailer in Connecticut. Strong product story, real community presence — but a website missing the signals that Google looks for when deciding which local businesses to surface in search. People searching "kayak rentals near me" or "canoes for sale CT" weren't finding them as easily as they should have been.
What's included
A focused four-week engagement covering three categories of work:
- Business information & page metadata — fixing the homepage headline, writing keyword-aware descriptions for every important page, and adding structured business data (JSON-LD schema) so Google can read the address, hours, and services accurately.
- Content expansion — expanding the "Local Places to Paddle" page into eight detailed paddle-spot descriptions targeting people searching where to paddle in Connecticut. Rewriting the rentals page to reflect how people actually search. Adding structured event data to the Film Festival, Demo Days, and race pages.
- Trust signals — adding a customer reviews section, with structured review data so star ratings can show in search results.
What changes
SEO is a long game. The technical fixes go live in the first month. The content and event pages start ranking for regional searches in months two and three. From there it compounds — more visibility leads to more traffic, more reviews, and stronger rankings over time.
How it's structured
Fixed-fee engagement. No hidden costs, no surprise upcharges, no monthly retainer sneaking in afterward. The shape of the work is appropriate for a small business: focused scope, clear deliverables, written summary of every change.
This case study will be expanded as the work goes live.
